The trip was fun however a tiny bit stressful. First Weston fell out of the camper onto the concrete...about 3 feet and smacked his head. So I of course could only think of the worst and was ready to drive into town to the ER.
Jason and Gene came up and we decided to start a fire, well none of us had matches (yes, if you have a camper you should have them in your camper), or a lighter, or even a torch. Being the resourceful boy scouts they are, they took paper towels, lit them with the cigarette lighter in the truck and quickly took them to the fire pit. It worked we had a fire!
Hank and his Dad fished until dark and left the boat in the water. At 10ish Hank decided he wanted to load the boat on the trailer. We packed up the kids (coats, boots, life jackets, Weston's puppy) got into the boat - they were asleep in minutes and drove down to the loading ramp. Loading the boat is VERY STRESSFUL in the day light....so everything went good in the dark until I pulled the boat out of the water and there was a horrible sound. Well we lost the carpet board that goes on the trailer. So the boat was resting on the metal - NOT GOOD. So we unloaded the boat and away Hank went searching for the board...in the pitch dark...with a spot light. I am sure the other campers on the lake thought we were crazy.
Finally we went to bed, Hank was nervous all night that we were going to run out of propane for the heater and could only think about finding the board for the boat. I was nervous that Weston was going to have a brain bleed. When we woke up at 6:30 am - Hank said "Nice bags under your eyes!"
Anywho, Hank found the board, drove to a friends house got a screw and a screw gun and was able to fix the trailer. So we made it home and once again have a very memorable Mother's Day camping trip!
